It's Friday, it's the winter solstice, it's the shortest day of the year, it's the last day we are open until after Christmas, and the world didn't end! Pretty sweet day I think. So for this most exciting day, we are playing Monopoly at 4:00. At 7:00 Anna is leading Junior Round Table while Brynna plays Cranium. And to end the week? The 5-4-3-2-1 workout of course. Come and chillax with us.

THURSDAY DECEMBER 20, 2012
We are MAKING XMAS CARDS at 4:00.
At 5:00 we are BUILDING SNOWMEN. Now there might be a slight problem as there is no snow outside. So this might take some extra brain storming. But either which way, we will be making snowmen. Maybe we'll draw them, maybe we'll make them out of cotton balls or maybe...just maybe, if we all do a little snow dance, we'll wake up tomorrow and everything will be covered in a blanket of fresh snow. And not just any snow, but the kind that packs together really well. You know what I'm talking about. It has just the slightest amount of wettness to it so it sticks together real well. Yes, that is the snow we want.
And at 7:00 p.m. we are having our annual WINTER PARTY. So please bring a snack to share at our party.

WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 19, 2012
Guess what?!?! We are playing one of my favorite games during brain boost. Want to know what it is? Do ya, do ya? It's UNO! So funnnn.
At 4:00 we will be visited by a very special guest. No, it's not Santa. Although, this person is quite jolly. It's Brynna. She will come to visit us here at the YC, and to take you ICE SKATING. If you want to join her on the ice, make sure you bring $2.00, ice skates (obviously) and if your 16 years old or younger you will need to bring and wear a helmet.
At 6:30 Anna will be leading another exploration into the culinary arts. It is always an adventure with some ups and downs but in the end we always have fun and most of the time there is something edible at the end of all the magic (pretty sure that was a very long run-on but hey, it's the net, I'm not being graded on grammar . It really is a wonder what I'm able to do with a microwave. Seriously, I'm good.
When the clock chimes 1900 hours (that's 7:00 p.m. peeps), there will be a SENIOR ROUND TABLE.

At 4:00 we are investigating a crime. It is up to you to solve this horrendous act. It could be anyone, the person to your left or perhaps the person to your left (can a person have two lefts?)...or maybe it was you...in the library...with a candlestick....gasp! Oh, the horror! To figure out who is responsible and/or to clear your name, come by the Youth Centre to play a game of CLUE.
At 5:30 you can get your groove on...your dance groove that is. So prepare accordingly to throw down with DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION."Everybody dance now".
At 6:00 Anna will be loading the Batmobile with the winning group from our Goodwill fundraiser to go on the GOODWILL SHOPPING TRIP. Currently, the girls are in the lead having raised $42.00 and the boys following slightly behind, having raised $22.00. So it appears as though, if no sudden changes occur, the girls will be accompanying me to Conestoga Mall to shop for Christmas gifts for Goodwill. The winning team will be announced at 10pm on Wednesday. A permission form is required. So, if you think you will be on the lucky winning team, make sure to grab a permission form and bring it back on Thursday before we leave. It's sure to be a happy night...giving and doing good is always so awesome.
At 7:00 we are putting on our lab coats and safety glasses (not actually!) to conduct a NEATO SCIENCE EXPERIMENT. Anything described as "neato" must be cool beans, so make sure to come check it out!! Neato indeed.

So you think your bridge has what it takes? Oh, you do! You really think your bridge is the strongest?!?! Well, let's test it, shall we? Today at 4:00 p.m. we are conducting BRIDGE STRENGTH TESTS (part 2). Let us see whose bridge reigns victorious.
Today at 6 o'clock, it will be a dark hour here at the YC...very dark and disturbing indeed. Why so dark, you ask? It is simply due to the BURPEE CHALLENGE. My most loathed of exercises! Eeeewww, the very thought sends shivers down my spine. In all honestly, I think burpees should from now on be referred to as "the exercise that shall not be named". Yes...that seems fitting. Oh burpees...I really dislike you. But guess what? Burpees are an amazing exercise. They improve your cardiovascular abilities while also strengthening and increasing muscle in both the upper and lower body. Yes, they are not only good for you...they are amazing for you. But, they are also quite difficult...so this is going to be crazy fun. Are you ready for it? Think you can beat me? Think you can even talk me into trying to beat you? All I know is that it will make for a very interesting night. Burpees.
At 7:00 p.m. we are having a POOL TOURNAMENT.
Also at 7:00 p.m. is our YOUTH COUNCIL MEETING. All Youth Council reps are to be there, so please make sure you are. Awesome!

BUILD A BRIDGE (part 1)! After the smashing success of our last bridge building contest, we are doing it again...but with some slight restrictions. We've got all sorts of cool building materials, so come test your abilities as a structural engineer or something along those lines. If you build it today, we will test it's strength and endurance tomorrow.
At 7:00 p.m. Cat will be trekking to the EDSS GYM to play FRISBEE & SKIPPING. It's going to be funnnn. So bring your lovely selves down to the YC and join us in this amazing and funnnn display of athleticism.
And are you ready for this?!?! Cause it's going to be epic! So...have you properly prepared yourself? Okay, perhaps your ready for it....so guess what...we are MAKING RICE KRISPIE SQUARES. Nom nom. It's as simple as that.
And you know what would go delightfully with your rice krispie square? Hot chocolate of course. Mmm, heaven. BUY A HOT CHOCOLATE for only $0.25. Wow, such a delicious deal.
And that is the most terrific Tuesday we have planned for you here at the Youth Centre. Come and be apart of the terrificness...seriously.

At 5:00 it's a friendly game of BALL HOCKEY out in the cold. Now frost nip is not a very cool experience as I recently discovered, so make sure to bundle up, especially those poor susceptible toes.
At 7:00 we are playing SCENE IT JR.
It's cold outside, like very cold. Whatever adventures you are going on this fine weekend, make sure to make smart choices and stay warm and safe. Understood?

At 6:00 p.m. Anna will be hitting the gym, the WMC FITNESS CENTRE that is. So, a big shout out to all fitness buffs or anyone else interested in the art of healthy living. Make sure to wear proper indoor footwear, advisably of the running variety, and proper gym type apparel (because jeans are a no go). Oh yeah, don't forget to bring in $8.00 too.
And from 6:30 to 9:30 we will be partying it up while also raising funds for Goodwill. That's right, we're having a PAY TO PLAY night. So bring in your extra change and maybe a few big kid dollars to help a great cause. It's true that helping others can be a very fulfilling experience, so test it out!

At 5:30 p.m. there will be a WALL-SIT CONTEST. Make sure to wear shoes with decent grip or you will put yourself at an automatic disadvantage, which would be uber uncool.
At 6:45 Anna will be leaving the YC and taking you to the EyeGo "BEATLES" CONCERT. The cost is only $5.00 for secondary school students with a student card. So make sure to bring your permission form and money in to attend this good time. Let's make it happen!
And at 7:00 p.m. Karyn will be popping in for a little visit. But this won't be exclusively a social visit, oh no sir! You will be making a HOLIDAY CRAFT WITH KARYN. Fun, fun.

The Youth Centre is now open from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. everyday, WITHOUT CLOSING!!!!! See, I knew you'd love it. So now you get to hang with us and us with you for 7 hours straight.
Today, at 4:00 p.m. we will be playing Two Truths and a Tale. Fun game. Let's see who is most deceptive (cue evil laugh).
At 7:00 p.m. Anna will be going to the EDSS GYM to play INDOOR SOCCER. Also at 7:00 p.m. Cat will be rocking the YC by playing ROCK BAND TOUR..."whoooaaaa, I'm still alive". Oh yes, Mr. Vedder, you rock my socks.
And to bring in this month of December, we will be DECORATING THE YC FOR WINTER. Should be a festive good time.
