The Votes are In!!!

Student Council has been elected. Congratulations to Jill, Kristen, Gavin, Treyce, and Zeke. Each school is being represented in this first ever Youth Centre Council. The Youth Centre Council will be asking for any ideas that will make the youth centre a better place to be. Please tell them your ideas, no idea is a bad idea.

Random Acts of Kindness Week

Last Week the youth are proud to say that they put their best foot forward by doing random acts. We gave out Cupcakes and help others at Foodland. Do you do anythig nice for someone?

Coming Up Events

Battle of the SEXES

Battle of the boys and girls. Who will win for goodwill. The girls and boys of the Youth Centre Council are asking for any money donations towards gifts for less fortunate kids. Please donate any loose change you might have into the jars at the youth centre.

Music Box

Music box is now up and running. The music box is open to any songs you might want to listen to on friday nights. Please get in your song in by the Thursday of that week.

Shopping Trip!

SHOPPING TRIP to Fairview Mall! Be here at the Youth Centre by 6:45 because they are leaving here at 7:00pm. They will be back by 9:30.

It's been a while!!

Hi all,



It has been a while since there were any posts and I am sorry for that, but I am going to try to do a weekly update from now on.



So life at the youth centre has been very busy. We have moved into our new facility at the Woolwich Memorial Centre and are loving all the new opportunties and perks that this has giving us. We have explored and start to use this place to our advantage. We are swimming in the pool and using the walking track.



Other new and improved things that are going on is that we have a lot of new stuff in the youth centre is it is looking great. We have new hours, new games, another wii, a stereo and there are new events every month.



Our November Calendar is about to be released and there will be more updates to come.



If you haven't met the new staff or saw our new digs, come on out.



Hours of operation is Tuesday through Friday 3:30 p.m. to 10:00 expect for 30 minute closure at 5:30pm.

Youth Centre is Closed June 19, 2009

Hi all

Sorry for the inconvenience, but the Youth Centre will be closed tonight Friday June 19, 2009. We will have to reschedule the shopping trip.

There are Fabulous Things going on in June at Your Youth Centre!

We are happy to say that our new home is working out GREAT! We are loving that we are downtown and are taking full advantage of it. We have been renting movies from Lazer video and more.

June is an exciting month for us and there are TONS of things going on. Like:

June 11 - Round table and ice cream
June 18 - Walmart to sell Raffle tickets
June 19 - Spring shopping at Fairview mall
June 25- Door to Door food collection for Woolwich food bank
June 26 - Bowling at Elimira Bowl

Our new Home!

Well we have been in our new home for a couple of weeks now and we are loving it. There has been lots of different things to do. The pool table is up and working and tonight we are going to play spoons for a prize. Keep watching for pictures and updates.

Youth Centre is Moving!!!

T0 all the Woolwich Youth out there,

Kelly and I are happy to announce that the Youth Centre is moving. So Friday May 1 we are having a social of celebrating the old. The Youth Centre will be at Park Manor on May 6 for gym night. Closed Thursday and Friday and reopening for gym night on May 13 at Park Manor.

MOVIE NIGHT @ Galaxy

Do you want to go to the movies??? We are heading out to Galaxy Cinema in Waterloo Next Friday evening. Our plan is to see Hannah Montana, 17 Again or Monsters vs. Aliens. Please stop by the YC tonight, next Wednesday Gym Night or next Thursday at the YC to pick up your permission form. Cost of the event for youth 13 and under is $7.95 and all others is $9.95. Please remember to bring money for treats and drink if you care to indulge. There are limited spots available, so please hand in your permission forms ASAP!!! Hope to see you there!

GYM NIGHT @ Park Manor

YC Gym Night at Park Manor public school is not to be missed! Open from 6:30pm to 8:30pm every Wednesday evening at Park Manor public school. We play games, have great conversation and indulge in some tasty treats. Some of the activities we play are basketball, bump, volleyball, beach volleyball, tennis ball games, soccer, fort building, dodge ball among many others. If you have not yet come out to one of out gym nights, we encourage you to try it out! Cost for the evening is $1.00 or included in the $20.00 YC year membership.

Getting ready for the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival

As many of you probably know, tomorrow is the annual ELMIRA MAPLE SYRUP FESTIVAL!!! Events start @ 7:00am and most events are done by 4pm. There are lots to take in from the Antiques and Collectibles Show & Sale and Toy Show Friday Night (tonight), the Pancake breakfast starting at 7:ooam, Old MacDonald's Farm, Sugar bush Tours, Megamutts Show, the mall among others!!

Hope to see you enjoying one of the many food delights at the festival or taking in one of the shows or tours. Let's hope for great weather and a great turn out to our town's Maple-y Festival!!

Come Out and Celebrate @ our Shamrock Celebration

Come out Thursday, March 19th and join in our St. Patrick's Day festivities! We will be making scrumptious Shamrock Shakes and another green treat! As always we have Wii, pool, PS2, Internet and GREAT conversation!!!! Hope to see you tomorrow night from 6pm-10pm!!

Swimming @ the REC

Wednesday we are headed out to the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex! Gym Night at Park Manor has been cancelled due to March Break. Youth wanting to participate in this event are to meet at the Youth Centre Front doors at 6:30pm with $5.50 and a permission form.

Family Dinner & Movie Night!!

Come out to our Family Spaghetti Dinner & Movie Night!!! Friday, March 13 at 6:00pm the Youth Centre will be holding a dinner for all friends and family of the YC. Please feel free to invite your parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, sisters and brothers!! Cost is only $3.00 and that includes dinner, drink and seats in front of the BIG screen projector! Stay tuned for movie details.

Be my Valentine

We got together Friday, February 6th to make Valentine's gifts for our loved ones. Whether it was for our friends, parents, gf, bff, or even ourselves- we had a blast making our painted wood crafts. Check out the pics from that evening!

Do you have a knack for knitting??

Hey guys,

We r going pull out the knitting needles and put our talents to great use. We are going to attempt to knit. This timeless craft/skill will enable us to hopefully provide warmth for others in our community. Youth Centre CLOSED Thursday & Friday...

The YC will be closed this Thursday and Friday as CBC will be in the centre getting ready to host Hockey Night in Canada from our own Elmira Arena!!!!! Activities will resume next Wednesday as normal !!!

NEW DRUMSTICKS ARE HERE - let's see if they can last ;-)

As we have had to lay our former Rockband drumsticks to rest, we are now the proud owners of two beauties!!! Let's see if they can last longer than the last :-)

CRAFT NIGHT @ the YC

Lots of fun in store for tonight!!! Make a small gift for that special someone in your life - be it your mother/father, sibling, friend, BF, BFF, or girlfriend!!

We have uploaded some new tunes on our MP3 players and are ready to listen to tunes, chat and get down with our crafty selves tonight! Bring a friend and we will see you at 6:00pm!!

Gym Night @ Park Manor

Hi all! Tonight we are playing some floor hockey...we will bring the sticks and balls. All you have to bring is yourself and some playful competition. We will also warm up with some bump and basketball warm up. As usual, cost for tonight is $1.00 (or free with your yearly $20.00 membership). The Snack Shack will be open and available with pop, bottled water and snacks. See you tonight from 6:30pm-8:30pm at Park Manor Public School. Please meet at the gymnasium doors.

The Battle of the Brides - BrideWars @ Galaxy

Yesterday, we battled the blowing snow to go see a movie @ Galaxy cinema. We were planning to see Yes, Man - however we were a tad late. So, we collectively decided upon BrideWars. Thanks guys for venturing off into a typically labelled "chick flick"!!! I think we were all impressed with the humorous content of the movie and deemed it a great choice in the end!

Can't wait until the next movie night!

In 2009 the YC will Pay It Forward

We as the WORLD are faced with many issues, those of poverty, financial turmoil, hunger, disease, war, pain - a great deal of upheaval. In spite of these set backs, we have in front of us a generation of youth who care. 2009 is going to be a big year. Our youth are empowered to CHANGE....it is POSSIBLE!

We start our 2009 year at the YC with enormous aspirations! We are going to change the world! Can you believe it? We can! Our youth are going to do it, one person at a time. Inspired by the book written by Catherine Ryan Hyde, Pay It Forward is the movement of random acts of kindness. Yesterday we watched the film to get an idea of what is in store for us this year. Stay tuned for how our youth are paying it forward.....

He told me, "Just pay it forward." Three big favors for three other people. That's it.
